Portland,
Oregon Area Fishing Is Great All year Long
Many fishing trips are located close to Portland Oregon.
Spring Chinook, Summer Chinook and Steelhead fishing on
the Columbia River is done out of Dodson Oregon, close to
Bonneville Dam and 35 miles east of Portland. This is in
the west end of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area.
The scenery as well as the fishing is spectacular. We also
fish for Summer Steelhead and Fall Chinook out of Rainer
Oregon. This area is located on the Columbia River
adjacent to the mouth of the Cowlitz River, a major fish
congregating area. Rainer is approximately 35 miles west
of Portland.
The Willamette River, which flows through downtown
Portland, has some excellent fishing for ocean bright
Spring Chinook during late March and April. It's large
runs of Salmon as well as it's convenient location to the
Portland metro area, make this one of Oregon's most
popular fisheries.
The Buoy 10 fishery, at the mouth of the Columbia River
near Astoria Oregon, is a popular and productive fishery
that produces excellent catches of Ocean bright Chinook
and Coho Salmon. Mid August through early September is
prime time for this fishery.
